eBworx: Foreign Jobs to Boost Order Book

08 January 2004 - Financial solutions company eBworx Bhd, currently bidding for various banking projects in North Asia and South-East Asia, expects further orders over the next few months, Chief Executive Officer Tan Suan Fong said after announcing that eBworx had secured two new contracts to implement modules of its proprietary Digital Credit Management system for Bank Central Asia of Indonesia and Southern Bank Bhd.

“Bank Central Asia and Southern Bank are existing customers, which is a solid vote of confidence for our products and ability to deliver solutions that cater to their needs,” Tan said.

He said foreign business had in the past years contributed only 30% to eBworx's revenue, but by year-end, the company would have moved from Malaysian-market dependent to the international market. “Judging from our order book, of which 70% are for projects outside Malaysia, and the overseas contracts we're bidding for, at least 70% of our revenue this year would be from overseas.”

eBworx has over the past three years established itself in South-East Asia, where it currently has 20 bank and insurance clients. It is confident of replicating that success in the North Asia markets, eBworx Executive Director Alan Yong said.

Among its recent successes in North Asia is a project to implement the Digital Retail Internet Banking System for CITIC Ka Wah Bank Ltd of China.

“There are tremendous opportunities in North Asia. The banking entities are so much bigger than in South-East Asia. For example, the top four banks in China have over 25,000 branches each,'' Tan said.

eBworx's products include Digital Credit Management System, Digital Business Centre, Digital Mobile Banker, Digital Teller, Digital Cash Management and Digital Call Centre. It is currently developing solutions for trade financing and wealth management.
